Anthony Villa is a composer and pianist living in Baltimore, Maryland. He is Professor of Music in the Department of Fine Arts at Loyola University Maryland. His works, reviews and recordings appear on other pages on this site. He is founder and director of the Baltimore Jazz Alliance Big Band. This band under the auspices of the Baltimore Jazz Alliance with generous support from Loyola University Maryland is dedicated to the performance of original jazz music by Baltimore area composers.
As a composer, Villa writes chamber music and jazz. As a pianist, he plays jazz in a combo setting and as a soloist.
At Loyola University Maryland, Villa is director of the Jazz and Recording Studio programs. He teaches courses in jazz performance,digital recording, music theory, composition, jazz history, and improvisation.
